Major League All-Star Pitcher Eddie Guardado to Host Autism All Star Meet and Greet Benefiting ACT Today! (Autism Care and Treatment Today!)

Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Pitcher Eddie Guardado, also known as Everyday Eddie, will host The Eddie Guardado Foundation for Autism Fundraiser on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 4 pm to 10 pm at the Scandia Amusement Park, located at 1155 S. Wanamaker Avenue in Ontario, California.

Proceeds from the game will go to benefit ACT Today!’s (Autism Care and Treatment Today!) mission of providing resources and funding grants for children with autism whose families cannot afford the necessary tools their child needs to reach their full potential.

The fundraiser will feature former MLB players catcher Ken Huckaby, right-handed MLB pitcher Kirk Saarloos, MLB catcher Adam Melhuse, MLB journeyman outfielder Trenidad Hubbard, and MLB first baseman/outfielder Brian Hunter. The event is sponsored by Game Flash, Hansen’s Natural, CSUF Baseball, Athletic Republic, Siggys and ACT Today!.

Tickets for the September 25th fundraiser are $45 per person to attend the all-star meet and greet with unlimited use of all Scandia Attractions, and $30 per person includes the meet and greet only.

In addition, through the month of September, the ESPN Zone in Anaheim, California will donate one dollar to The Eddie Guardado Foundation whenever a “Sweet & Salty Sinker Slider” is sold. The foundation will in turn contribute the funds to ACT Today!’s mission.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in 110 children in America is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), making it more prevalent than pediatric cancer, juvenile diabetes and childhood AIDS.

“This is fun way for all families and baseball lovers to come out and help us raise autism awareness, as well as much needed funds for children with autism who are in desperate need of care and treatment, “ says ACT Today!’s Executive Director Nancy Alspaugh-Jackson. “We’re so pleased to have the incredible and continuous support of The Eddie Guardado Foundation.” The Eddie Guardado Foundation recently provided a $27-thousand dollar grant to ACT Today!’s Assistive Technology program, allowing the non-profit organization to distribute 45 iPads to children nationwide.
